Hailing from Pardubice in the Czech Republic, Innocens brings to the female fronted metal scene a unique sound. Based mainly on keyboard and guitar driven rhythms the music is similar to the power metal, with a goth metal twist, of Europe with one exception. Innocens does not detune their guitars, which for a band coming out of eastern Europe is not strange, but Europe is well known for it's detunings. So after a few emails back and forth I received a digi-pack of Innocens "Free /us/" release. The songs are well written and come with a slight pop edge on top of heavy guitars & drums. Cath's vocals are enjoyable and her voice was what originally got me interested in the band itself. You see, I'm a sucker for a hot rock chick with a foreign accent and Cath delivers on both fronts. The song that had me hooked after just one listen was "Voyage" which I heard on Last.FM while hunting down new tunes.Innocens is a refreshing change of pace from the norm of the female fronted metal scene. It's borderline ... happy. It still has a goth sound and delivers that effectively, but their music is lively and just makes me feel good.
Note: I've only rated this a bargin bin, because the release has been out for since 2008 I recommend it for those of you who are in love with the femme metal goth scene out of eastern Europe.
In 2009, Innocens was inducted into "The Cat Fights!" with a Silver rating.
Well rounded & experienced, Innoncens has what it takes to stick around
